Time to go Bowling: Hollywood Bowl Season Begins This Weekend

Three big events will bring music to the Hollywood Hills this weekend for the opening of the Hollywood Bowl summer season. Food is available on site at multiple venues or you may bring a picnic. Picnic areas open several hours before the concert.

What: Opening Night at the Bowl featuring Carlos Santana, André Watts and blue Man Group
When: Friday, June 23, 2006, 8:30 pm
Cost: $17-$25 bench seats still available

What: Mariachi USA Festival at the Hollywood Bowl featuring 6 Mariachi bands from Arizona, California, Texas and Florida all playing on the same stage with special guest Vikki Carr. The event will conclude with a fireworks spectacular.

What: Sergio Mendes’ 40th Anniversary of Brasil ’66 with guests Marcelo D2, Maogani Quartet, India Arie, Herb Alpert, Lani Hall, John Legend, Joe Pizzulo, Q-Tip
When: Sunday, June 25, 7 pm
Cost: $13-$17 bench seats available

Location: Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90068
Parking: The few parking spaces at the Bowl are usually $12-$14. They will be $17-$19 for the Mariachi event. Advance parking reservations are available online. $3 shuttles will deliver you from three free remote lots. There are also park and ride locations around the Los Angeles area, but this event has different pick ups than usual, so check the website under “lease events” for exact locations.
