Overlooked and Underrated Films Share Space with Oscar Nominees at the Egyptian Theatre
Thursday January 4, 2007
What makes a good film is completely subjective, and the powers that choose films at the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood have decided that history got it wrong. They've decided to rectify the matter with the Overlooked and Underrated Films series. The selections include films that were originally well received, but were soon forgotten, films that got undeservedly poor reviews when released, and films that did well in other countries but never found a US market. In this first series you'll find mysteries, westerns, thrillers, fantasies and war movies released between 1938 and 1981. The Overlooked and Underrated Film Series runs from January 4 to February 8, 2007. Visit www.egyptiantheatre.com for more information.
Also coming up at the Egyptian: Newsweek's Annual Oscar Roundtable, noon to 2 pm on January 13, 2007. David Ansen and Sean Smith will interview Best Actor and Actress contenders for this year's Oscar for the January 22 issue of Newsweek. Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 seniors and students.
