New Passport Law Takes Effect Today

Tuesday January 23, 2007
Many people, when visiting Los Angeles for the first time, also schedule in a side trip to Mexico. Starting today, January 23, 2007, American citizens need to carry a U.S. passport to return from Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean by air. For the time being, you can still use a U.S. driver's license with a birth certificate to get back into the country if you're driving or walking across the border, but that will change in 2008.

For comprehensive information on passport requirements and how to get a passport, visit About Student Travel Guide, Kathleen Crislip's Passport Resources Page.
