The much-anticipated Star Trek The Tour
opened Friday under the Queen Mary Dome
in Long Beach. The interactive tour includes sets and artifacts from all five TV shows and 10 movies. Not only can you can sit in Captain Kirk's chair on the bridge, formerly in the temporarily closed Hollywood Entertainment Museum, you can also visit the Enterprise-D
transporter room, Dr. Crusher's sick bay and Captain Picard's quarters. Interactive components include four full-motion Star Trek shuttlecraft simulators and a chance to virtually interact with original characters in your favorite TV episode and buy a DVD of the performance to take home. Other highlights include an 18-foot starship Enterprise
and other ship models, costumes, prosthetics and props. The "History of the Future" gives those of us less in-the-know some context to how all the series and movies fit together in virtual time and space.
