Mother's Day and Scavenger Hunt at the Egyptian.
Saturday May 3, 2008
You could treat your mom to a special Mother's Day Dinner, or perhaps a visit to one of LA's Best Day Spas, but for something truly original, how about a tour of a historic Hollywood movie palace? The Egyptian Theatre is offering historic tours including the old dressing rooms and singers boxes and some of the original furnishings from when the theatre held live performances. After the tour is a screening of Forever Hollywood, a 55 minute film celebrating over 100 years of movie-making history. Tours start at 10:30 am, followed by Forever Hollywood at 11:35 am. It's $5 for the tour or $10 for the tour and film together. If that's too sedate for mom, on Saturday afternoon, American Cinemateque at the Egyptian is partnering with The Go Game for a Hollywood Scavenger Hunt with David Wechter, director of the classic scavenger hunt film Midnight Madness. The Scavenger Hunt will take place from 3:45 to 6:00 pm. The winners will be announced at 7:30, followed by a screening of the film at 8 pm. The cost is $32 for Scavenger Hunt and Movie, or $10 for movie only.
See the Egyptian Theatre Calendar for more information on both events.
