Watch Mars Landing Live at Griffith Observatory

Thursday May 22, 2008
Griffith ObservatorySpace fans should head over to Griffith Observatory Sunday, May 25, 2008 to watch a live telecast of NASA's Phoenix spacecraft landing on Mars. The Phoenix was launched last summer from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Hold your breath with the scientists from JPL waiting for that successful landing. The telecast will be preceded by an "All Space Considered" update on the status of the project. The update starts at 1:30 pm. The doors open at 3:45 pm for the live program and coverage which begins at 4 pm. The first images are expected from NASA at 6:43 pm. The event, which will take place in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater, is free to the public, but seating is limited and is on a first come basis. Members of the LA Astronomical Society will have solar telescopes out on the lawn during the event for looking at the sun.
