I need more infomation about the cost of parking (if any) in the surrounding area. What’s the accessability to the route’s location and How long does the parade last?
As mentioned in the blog, the best place to park is at the Hollywood & Highland complex. Enter off Highland Ave. (Highland exit off the 101, then south to the complex on your right). The maximum for the day is $10. There is also a public parking garage on Orange, south of Hollywood Blvd, across from the Roosevelt Hotel, that has a $12 max. If you want to be farther down away from the Grandstands, there’s a big parking lot behind the Pacific Theatre that you can access off Cahuenga, by the Greyhound station. It’s usually not more than $6 for the day, but they may raise it for the parade.
This is a bunch of crap, changing the name of the Parade! It’s because of Christmas that there is even a parade. If the Muslims don’t like it, they can go back to the middle east. What’s next, ten years down the line, you’ll remove Santa himself from the parade. Get it together Americans!
Changing the name had nothing to do with religious differences. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce owns the name “Hollywood Christmas Parade” and chose to cancel the parade. The new organizers had to pick another name, since it is no longer associated with the Hollywood Chamber.
Blown away!! by the Marines Memorial Race Car. Hats off to Kevyn Major Howard ( Rafterman) in Kubricks “Full Metal Jacket” for this honorable cause. I went to http://www.fueledbythefallen.com and made a donation right after the parade. I urge everyone to do the same.
The 2008 parade will be on Sunday, November 30th starting at 5pm.
Grandstand seating $35 each — call 1-866-PARADE1; curbside seating free.

I thought the parade was on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving…why is it on Sunday now?
Ohhhhhhh I wanna go I wanna go I wanna go! I always watch this on TV every year! And I have always wanted to go to it & see it live in person! Has any of you been to it live in person? If it starts at 5:00 pm, then what time should I get there for the free seats!? =)
The parade has ALWAYS been on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. (at least for the past 10 yrs).
Depending on where you want to view it from, get there at least an hour or so before. If you want to see it from Hollywood Blvd, get there at 3:30/4. If you watch it from Sunset, it takes a while to get there so get there at 4/4:30. I hope it’s better this year.
I sure am glad that the City of Los Angeles is now in such a financial state that we can afford to lavish ourselves with a parade. I guess I can turn my water back on, then walk the streets and feel safe again. Thank you.
will it be shown on TV if so when
Unfortunately, the parade will not be televised this year.
