The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) will once again offer free rides on Metro buses and trains on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. These two nights traditionally account for a high number of traffic accidents, so the MTA is doing their part to keep intoxicated travelers off the streets.
This year, the free Metro service will be on all routes on New Year's Eve, with trains running every 20 minutes from 9 pm Dec 31 to 2 am January 1. In addition, they will be beefing up service to Pasadena for the Rose Parade.
Service will be free between the hours of 9 pm and 2 am on December 24 to 25th and December 31 to Jan 1. Full fair will apply on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and for those middle of the night trips after 2 am on New Year's Eve.
