The popular AquaLink and AquaBus water taxi service between Long Beach's shorefront attractions was conspicuously absent over the winter due to budget cuts, but service will resume Memorial Day weekend. A new stop will be added at Belmont Pier, providing access to Belmont Shore shops and restaurants. The regular route of the 75-passenger AquaLink catamaran, which also holds 6 bikes, will run from the Queen Mary to the Aquarium of the Pacific to the Belmont Pier to Alamitos Bay Landing, then stop at Belmont Pier again before heading back to the Queen Mary to start again. The AquaLink Express will run between the Aquarium of the Pacific and Alamitos Bay Landing without stopping at the Pier or Queen Mary.
The 49-passenger AquaBus ferries passengers between six stops: Aquarium of the Pacific at Dock 4, The Queen Mary, Shoreline Village at Parker's Lighthouse, Catalina Landing, Pine Avenue Circle at Dock 7, and the Hotel Maya.
At $1 for the AquaBus and $5 for the AquaLink one-way, it's an economical way to enjoy a few minutes to an hour out on the water. For schedules, visit lbtransit.com.
