Some of the best parties in Los Angeles are fundraisers, which range from big festivals for a small fee to intimate events with a hefty price tag. Aside from the constant stream of walkathons, events tend to be centered around food, alcohol and music. Yes, you might have your heartstrings tugged and be inspired by the work done by the benefiting charity, but if you're visiting Los Angeles, it's a great way to meet the locals and possibly do a little celebrity spotting for a good cause.
Here are a few ways to party for good in LA.
The Silver Lake Jubilee street festival this weekend, benefiting the Los Angeles Arts & Athletics Alliance, includes three stages of live music with dozens of bands and DJs, an art fair, book fair, children's village, eco village, over 40 food vendors and two beer gardens featuring local microbrews. Adjacent to the Jubilee is a FREE Block Party with more live music and fun at the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd and Sunset Blvd starting at noon each day.
Planners suggest that you park a mile away and walk in to reduce impact on the neighborhood. To minimize waste created by the music and arts festival, they would also like you to bring your own tote bag and a cup to partake in the Free Water Fountains prepared by Sustain LA and LADWP.
