October may be Arts Month across the country but January is the month you want to travel to Los Angeles if you are a serious art collector. Many of the top art galleries from around the world converge on Santa Monica and LA for two weekends of high-end art and photography sales.
For photo collectors and fans, there is photo l.a., a gathering of about 70 international galleries representing the top fine art photographers of the past and present. Buy an original Ansel Adams or Henri Cartier Bresson at this year's photo l.a., January 18-21, 2013 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
If you're really serious about collecting fine art, you might as well stick around for the Los Angeles Art Show from January 24-27, 2012. Galleries from around the world will be displaying and selling artworks from hundreds to millions of dollars at the LA Convention Center.
If you prefer contemporary art, Art Los Angeles Contemporary is going on the same weekend from January 24-27, 2013 in Santa Monica.
You don't have to be a serious buyer to enjoy these events. General admission tickets range from $15 to $20.
