October may be Arts Month across the country but January is the month you want to travel to Los Angeles if you are a serious art collector. Many of the top art galleries from around the world converge on Santa Monica and LA for two weekends of high-end art and photography sales. This year, two out of three shows have moved to the same weekend and the same proximity to make it easier for visitors to attend both shows. The LA Art Show and photo l.a. will both take place in Downtown Los Angeles on the 3rd weekend of January.
For photo collectors and fans, photo l.a., is a gathering of about 70 international galleries representing the top fine art photographers of the past and present. Buy an original Ansel Adams or Henri Cartier Bresson at this year's photo l.a. January 16-19, 2014 at the L.A. Mart.
If you're really serious about collecting fine art, you'll also want to attend the Los Angeles Art Show, also from January 16-19, 2014. Galleries from around the world will be displaying and selling artworks from hundreds to millions of dollars at the LA Convention Center.
If you prefer contemporary art, Art Los Angeles Contemporary is scheduled from January 30 to February 2, 2014 in Santa Monica.
You don't have to be a serious buyer to enjoy these events. General admission tickets range from $15 to $20.
