If you find yourself with Mom in Los Angeles for Mother's Day, you can go out to dinner or you could try one of these local activities.

1. Mother's Day Festival on Olvera Street

The Mother's Day Festival at El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Site will include live music, festive food, carnival rides and games, free health screenings for women and free gifts for Moms. Of course this will be added to the already bustling Mexican craft market and popular Mexican restaurants at Olvera Street.
When: May 9-10, noon - 10 pm

2. Momentum Place at Theatricum Botanicum

Momentum Place brings modern dance, aerial acts, juggling and performance art together for Mother's Day at The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum's rustic outdoor amphitheater. Performances are kid friendly and full of surprises. Performers include members of Josie Walsh's MYOKYO dance company, Cirque Berzerk, Eye of Newt Circus and the Crazy Danks Marching Band.
When: Sunday, May 10 at 2 pm

3. Mother's Day Brunch at the Disney Concert Hall

Mother's will be feted by Patina Catering in the Blue Ribbon Garden at the gleaming Disney Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. Griddled French toast, lavender-scented pancakes, and several variations on eggs will be complimented by a plethora of salads, breakfast pastries and desserts. Mom receives a complimentary glass of pink Champagne.
When: May 10, 2009, 10:30 am and 12:30 pm seatings

4. Mother's Day Opera in Belmont Shore

Professional opera singers Jacquelynne Fontaine and Robert MacNeil, international concert pianist Steven Vanhauwaert, and a harpist Jane Grothe will perform a free concert at Bayshore Church in Belmont Shore, Long Beach.

5. Mother's Day Brunch Cruise

Hornblower Cruises is offering Mother's Day Brunch and Dinner Cruises departing from Long Beach, Newport Beach and Marina del Rey.

6. Mother's Day Home Tour of Villa Riviera

If Mom enjoys historic architecture, take her on a tour of the newly restored Villa Riviera in Long Beach, which will open its doors to the public for a special Mother’s Day Home Tour. Between fifteen to twenty units will be on display in addition to the newly renovated lobby and Villa Room.This is the first time the general public will be able to see this historical landmark after the Villa Riviera Association’s near $5 million interior and exterior restoration.
