Guide Review - Holiday Inn Universal - Beverly Garland Holiday Inn Universal Studios Hollywood

Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn is not just named after the actress, but was built by Beverly Garland and her late husband in 1972, and continues to be run by her son and step-daughter. Photos of Garland in her various movie and TV roles decorate the lobby. The Tula Restaurant is named for her granddaughter, whose photo adorns the entry.

The property consists of two 7-floor hotel towers totaling 255 rooms, two conference and event buildings, and the lobby and gift shop surrounding an outdoor courtyard. Tula's California Café and Splash Bar are in a separate building along with the Coffee Room lounge and business center. The tennis courts and playground are off to the side of the complex.

The rooms are comfortable and despite being just off the freeway, the landscaping and trees provide an oasis of green and relative quiet. If you like hanging out at the pool, but don't feel comfortable in the hard-bodied scene at some trendier hotels, this is a very pleasant environment to relax.

The Beverly Garland Hotel offers family rooms with a partitioned area with bunk beds for the kids. There are also suites available. Although it says on the website that refrigerators are available for a small fee, some King rooms and all family rooms have them standard.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life, the room was very dated didnt appear very clean, people were allowed to smoke on the outside tables so all the cigarette smoke blew up onto your balcony and you could even smell it coming through the air vents. They were testing the fire alarms for 2 days running and on one of the days the alarm went off CONSTANTLY for 10 hours so you basically had to leave the hotel. The staff behind the reception desk were very very RUDE especially the manager Carlos However the staff that worked in the restaurant were wonderful Also all the people that help book the day trips were great too Great location close to studio city, and hollywood bollavard Overall 2/10 what a horrible hotel I wouldnt recommend it to my worst enemy
