Interview with a Nightclub Goddess - A Fun Time
Clubs and Bars for Eveyone

By Kayte Deioma, About.com

The LA club scene is mostly populated by the 21 to 35 crowd, especially on week nights. Thirty-something entertainment industry professionals gravitate to Privilege on Fridays when Platinum Entertainment is host (Closed in 2008). For travelers over 40, Alexandra recommends dinner and dancing at White Lotus. “It is one of the most stunning venues ever. It will charm the pants off you.” she raves. Geisha House, a clubby Japanese restaurant with a Geisha floor show is another fun option.

And Alexandra’s favorite night spot? “I really really love – the Day After, also called the Montmartre Lounge – I love this venue because the patio outside is huge and beautiful with heat lamps – I really like outdoor venues….It’s best to go on a Saturday night…the promoters are awesome. Karma entertainment…. I love them so much because their whole thing is diversity…not an all white crowd…they just want people to be dressed nice to come and have fun.”

Alexandra has good things to say about plenty of other LA dance clubs and bars.

Dance Clubs:

Mood “It’s a stunning décor. The teak doors alone are worth a look. The DJ plays hip hop with bongos playing along. I love these LA clubs that just take you away to a whole new place…Mood does that. It’s fun all the time, and it’s easier to get in if it’s not Wednesday.”

Guy’s on Sundays
“Danny Masterson's jazz night. Celebs like Christina Aguilera will do impromptu sets here. Danny says if girls are wearing a dress and a smile, they can get in no problem.

Bars:

The Bar on Sunset in Hollywood “It’s a comfortable, cool place with a bit of a divey feel. Elijah Wood takes over the decks on most Tuesdays.”

The Hideout in Santa Monica
“It’s hard to find. It’s small and you get a lot of attention from the bar tenders…you almost feel like you’re on a boat. I haven’t seen any celebrities, but Jennifer Aniston and Sean Penn have been seen there.”

L’Scorpion
“Good looking crowd and special attention – they treat everyone like they are A-list and you don’t have to pay a lot. L’Scorpion’s capacity is only 59. Go at 7 when they open. They have good bar tenders. They know everything there is to know about tequila. Cool vibe.”

Beauty Bar
“You can get a manicure with a martini for $10 Thursday through Sunday and it’s not too hard to get into.
