The basement nightclub at the Kress is a decent size space with a large dance floor and a bar at each end. Seating is reserved for bottle service, with bottles starting at $325. There are only 2 seats assigned to each bottle, which is unusually skimpy and doesn't seem very practical, especially with a young crowd, where most of the bottles will be reserved by a couple of guys looking to share with a couple or more girls.
A few days after opening, on a Thursday night, the crowd was young and hot, but still thin at 11:30 pm, which is early for Hollywood. It remains to be seen if hip Hollywood clubgoers will be willing to fork over $40 to get into the Kress basement on a regular basis when other "it" clubs are half the price.
DJs downstairs spin a mix that's heavily, but not exclusively hiphop.

Tip 1: Have a late dinner at the restaurant if you want to get in to the Basement. That way your $40 goes toward dinner and you get a personal escort from the restaurant to the club.
Tip 2: There have been reports of really long waits for the valet at the end of the night, so you might consider parking a few blocks away at the Hollywood & Highland complex.
