The Order

We ordered the beef, turkey and veggie burgers. Our masterpiece of a beef patty rested on a honey wheat roll. Lettuce and tomato supported the meat; Swiss cheese and caramelized onions smothered the top, with a quarter slice of avocado draped across the stack. We ordered our turkey burger on a hamburger bun with provolone, avocado, sautéed mushrooms and onions. We dressed our veggie patty in herb goat cheese on a bed of sun dried tomatoes and baby greens in an English muffin. On the side, we ordered the a basket of fries, onion strings and sweet potato fries (really yams), a new item not yet on the menu. We split a banana shake that could have been a meal in itself.

The Experience

Starting with the sides that came out first, my friend was already writhing in ecstasy and I was especially enjoying the sweet potato strips in horseradish mayo. We split the three burgers when they came. The beef, cooked medium by default, was moist, but not greasy and perfectly complemented by our chosen toppings. The turkey was cooked through, as poultry should be and really retained the flame-grilled flavor. The veggie burger was rich and flavorful. It was extra messy, not holding together as well as some other substances, but far surpassing them in taste.
All three burgers were outstanding, but it was the beef that really sent my companion over the edge, bringing to mind Meg Ryan’s orgasmic performance in When Harry Met Sally. “Better than sex!” she enthused.

I cannot eat a 1/2 pound of burgers plus buns, so I just had a couple bites of each. I planned to take the rest home to enjoy later. My friend had other ideas. After she finished her three halves, she claimed the remains of my turkey and provolone. “You’re done with this, right?” I acquiesced, but decided to suffer a little over-stuffed discomfort rather than sacrifice my beef burger to the same fate. I savored every bite. I did take home the remains of my veggie burger which made a delicious breakfast the next day.

With all that food, we barely made a dent in the delicious 22 ounce banana shake. We certainly didn’t have room for dessert. Yet our waitress made a convincing case for the baked-to-order Toll House chocolate chip cookie. We ordered one to go. Equivalent in volume to half a dozen of mom’s Toll House cookies, this monster is made to share. Unfortunately, we weren’t ready to eat it when it was warm out of the oven, but it was still pretty tasty by the time we got it home.

The Bottom Line

Though the cookie and sides are great, go for the burgers - any of them! But go early or late or be prepared to wait during peak times.
