Universal Studios Hollywood is a combination of a working TV and movie studio and a movie-based theme park. The Studio Tour is a tram ride through the studio sets and a few sound stages. The Studio Tour is only accessible with the theme park day pass and cannot be booked separately.

Universal Studios Hollywood has physical rides (in a moving vehicle), virtual rides (the chair might shake), live action shows, special effects experiences, musical performances, interactive exhibits, carnival games, playgrounds and character encounters. There are also lots of places to shop and eat.

Where: 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA 91608, just north of Hollywood off the 101 Freeway
Hours: Daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hours vary, but tend to be weekdays 9 am - 8 pm, weekends, 9 am - 9 pm in summer; and weekdays 10 am - 6 pm and weekends 10 am - 7 pm after Labor Day.
When to Go: Summer is peak season, even though it's hot. Holidays can also be busy. Mid-week is less crowded.
Admission: Adults $61, Under 48" tall $51, Children under 3 are free.
