By Metro
The Metro Red Line train from downtown or Hollywood stops at Universal City. Across from the Metro station and Bus Stop is a Universal Studios shuttle which provides complimentary service every 10 to 15 minutes to the front gate of Universal Studios Hollywood. Shuttles continue for two hours after the park closes. It's only a five to ten minute walk from the station to the gate, but it's straight uphill and the sidewalk only goes part way, then you have to walk on the street. But you don't have to worry too much about missing the last shuttle in the evening, since it's all downhill on the way back.
Free Shuttle from Anaheim Hotels
