There's something a little old-fashioned and inherently romantic about riding a Ferris wheel - taking in the elevated view and sharing a kiss at the top. The solar-powered Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier is a great choice, offering a scenic view along the coast, with or without an accompanying walk on the beach.
A more recent alternative is the Giant Wheel at the Pike in Long Beach at twilight with a view of Shoreline Village, the Pike, the Rainbow Harbor Lighthouse and the Queen Mary.
Both locations also have a classic merry-go-round for a little more nostalgic play.
